Dragonfly Bell Tent, eco living with River Views

Dragonfly Valley, and our beautiful bell tent set in a family friendly environment on a terraced former vineyard above the stunning River Zezere. Experience being off-grid in beautiful natural surroundings, with the comforts of modern living. Decorated and furnished, this light and airy space is also very cozy & romantic. Enjoy views of the river from the surrounding terraces. The bell tent has in its own private garden space on a terrace surrounded by impressive schist stone walls & grapevines. This colourful and spacious bell tent is great for couples to reconnect with nature. The tent will comfortably fit 2 people (an extra sofa bed can be set up for up to 2 additional children on request) making it great place to base your holiday. There is an outside covered kitchen area with gas hobs and all necessary utensils for cooking, plus a charcoal BBQ outside. Outside dining table, benches and comfy garden furniture are also provided. The table is connected to our up-to-date solar system to provide plenty of evening lighting and can charge laptops, phones and many other small electrical devices. There is a private bathroom with a newly installed gas powered shower for all year use and a separate composting dry toilet, so the tent is a very comfortable space to be in. This ancient vineyard offers a stunning and unique get-away. The bell tent is situated on a stone walled terraced enclosed by grape vines. This offers our guests privacy and seclusion with their own bathroom and compost toilet. There is guaranteed hot water from our new gas powered shower. There is also an outdoor kitchen and dining area with gas hobs, plus outdoor washing up facilities & a BBQ provided on request. Walking trails that lead to the river can be accessed directly from the site. We can help guests with recommendations for places to visit and planning activities, such as hiking, fishing, water sports. We can give you details about the best places to explore, enjoy a picnic or eat out! The local lake is very popular with fishermen and prize winning carp and river bass can be caught. We can assist guests with obtaining a fishing license. The direct surroundings of Dragonfly Valley and the river Zezere offer a splendid place to enjoy the peace and beauty of nature, to watch the birds or take part in some of the many activities available:

They offer a safe place for the children to swim and amenities such as toilets and cafes.

Visit all the picturesque villages in the direct surroundings such as Pedrogão Grande, Pedrogão Pequeno and Mosteiro. A little further down the road is the world heritage site in Tomar, Or the historical university city of Coimbra just a 35 minute drive north. As a rural holiday let we must advice that there are areas of uneven ground, hence we can not provide specific access for the infirm. The tent is situated on the lower terrace and involves an at times steep walk from the car through the vineyard to the secluded terrace. Own transport is advisable to make the most of your stay but we can arrange pick ups from the local town. We have plenty of safe parking available around 150 metres from the tent. We are only a short walk down to the lake, and a 30 minute walk to high quality restaurants, cafes and a river beach with a bar/cafe. Please bring with you drinking water, although we provide some. Be aware that the refrigerator and freezer are in a shared space. A coolbox is provided with ice blocks that can we swapped over daily. There is lighting in the tent and bathroom, but please bring torches to help light your way as it is very dark if you return to site at night. The star gazing is amazing though! Please be aware that we provide bed linens but do not provide towels, as the washing load would be too much for our off-grid system. The access to the property is down a dirt track which is a little bumpy in places.
